Senior Associate, Risk Management - Credit and Financial Risk
Management The Credit and Financial Risk Management (CFRM) Risk
Office is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Associate, Risk Manager
ready to apply their analytical, risk, communication, and project
management skills. In this role you will contribute to CFRM’s
overarching risk management strategy by supporting facilitation of
risk assessments, guiding our business partners through audits,
providing counsel and thought leadership, and driving execution.
You will also be responsible for helping identify, track, and
report on trends for issues related to CFRM’s governance and
oversight processes. As a key partner, you will work with the
various leaders across CFRM and the Business Units. Through your
work, you will gain a broad, general understanding of how Capital
One manages model, data, and technology risks. You will also gain
deeper knowledge in the specific areas of CFRM risk management
focus, including credit risk, market and liquidity risk, and model
risk. At the same time, you will exercise your skills in analytic
rigor, problem solving, and strategic thinking. Our ideal candidate
will be a self motivated risk professional with excellent
analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Responsibilities: Understand CFRM’s strategy and contribute to its
evolution over time; understand how CFRM executes its
responsibilities and help CFRM effectively communicate those
activities; Assist in managing internal audits from the side of the
Auditee for audits impacting CFRM; Assist in facilitating risk
assessments and related activities (Critical Business Process
Identification, Process Level Assessments, Risk and Control
Self-Assessments, Control Testing etc), which include providing
advice, challenge, and driving outcomes; Build an understanding of
the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to
overall Risk Management within CFRM Leverage industry benchmarking
and best practices to provide thought leadership and guidance to
executives and their teams on sound risk management practices;
Analyze data to proactively identify risks, trends, and process
improvements; Effectively collaborate with CFRM Risk Advisors,
business stakeholders and other risk management professionals
across all three lines of defense (e.g. Business Risk Office
Partners; Audit; Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)) through various
risk programs and engagements; Monitor issue remediation, tracking,
and closure Assist in execution of special projects and engagements
in collaboration with the overall Risk Management Team and
Leadership Desired Skills: Self-starter with a background in risk
management or risk governance Understanding of banking activities
and the three lines of defense framework Effective verbal and
written communication skills, including the ability to prepare
presentation materials Aptitude for synthesizing complex issues
into a clear and concise summary Keen attention to detail Proactive
and results-oriented Independent problem-solver with ability to
navigate ambiguity Ability to establish credibility, trust, and
support within all levels of the organization Willing to learn,
adapts easily to change, and confident with diverse thinking
Knowledge and experience using Google Workspace (e.g., Sheets,
Slides, Docs) Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or military
experience At least 2 years of experience consulting, auditing, or
working in the fields of model and data, or risk management
Preferred Qualifications: 3 years experience with one or more of
the following: consulting, auditing, or working in the fields of
model and data, or risk management 2 years experience interacting
or engaging with internal audit or federal regulators Experience in
a second-line or oversight role at a financial institution or
regulatory agency Excellent written and verbal communication At

full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by
location. Please note that this salary information is solely for
candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and
refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of
this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based
upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Risk Associate Candidates
hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range
associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary
amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be
reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also
eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which
may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on
