Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A full-time, on-site Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) position is available in the Murfreesboro, TN area, supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school settings. This role plays a vital part in facilitating communication and ensuring that Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students receive equal access to educational opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Provide clear and accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) in various educational environments including classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities. Support 1:1 student needs, adapting to individual communication preferences and learning requirements. Collaborate closely with educators, support staff, and families to promote an inclusive learning environment. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while adhering to school policies and ethical standards. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, preferably with students ranging from elementary through high school. EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of Deaf culture and sensitivity to the unique needs of DHH students. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills in both ASL and spoken English.
