Plano 1 (31061), United States of America, Plano, TexasPlatform Engineer (Remote - Eligible)Platform Engineer (DevOps) Capital One Technology Operations has an opening for a DevOps Platform Engineer who has the passion to provide superior system availability and customer experience. You must possess strong knowledge of AWS Infrastructure, automation, and Python scripting, and be able to apply this knowledge to manage cloud based applications. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for driving efficiencies through automation, and providing technical guidance and leadership internally, as well as partnering with adjacent teams to drive solutions. You will drive reliability and performance across a massive scale by mastering the full depth of the stack. You should have experience with, and a strong knowledge of, Incident, Problem and Change management processes. You will drive technical resolution of High-Severity & Low Severity Incidents. Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy and support automation and Scripting solutions to drive new capabilities, visibility, and efficiency.
• Influence resiliency and scalability in production environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Create Low Level Design, High Level Design, Implementation Plan, and Acceptance Test Plan documents in accordance with Capital One standards.
• Identify opportunities and develop proactive automated monitoring and alerting solutions by utilizing available tools (Splunk, DataDog, etc.).
• Provide technical leadership and guidance around DevOps best practices
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual validation efforts and drive zero touch automation and self healing
• Proactively monitor all of the applications and infrastructure behind Capital One's external and internal customer facing services including their availability, latency, performance, and capacity
• Manage and govern relationships with technology vendors utilized in the enterprise.
• Create, manage and utilize appropriate technical procedural documentation (run books)
• Ongoing on the job training and self study professional development
• Operations Tier 3 escalation resource for incident resolution Successful candidates will possess:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document solutions, present ideas to cross-functional teams, and explain operational issue background and root cause to senior leaders
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of cloud based solutions and services (preferably in AWS)
  • A passion to drive automation, scripting, machine learning, and self healing
  • A passion for teamwork
  • Ability to work in a flexible work environment that embraces rapid change, emphasizes continuous learning, and attacks new challenges
  • Ability to adequately discuss technical issues with technicians, engineers, architects and vendors.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team that is geographically dispersed, as well as work independently as required.
  • Experience with Linux
  • Familiarity utilizing REST APIs
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code methodologies and tools
  • Proficient knowledge of common DevOps tools such as Git/Github, Jenkins, containers, etc.

    • At least 2 years of information technology experience
    • At least 2 years of experience deploying and supporting automation solutions
    • At least 1 years of experience with Python Preferred Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree
      • 1+ years of networking software experience
      • 1+ years of experience with cloud services
      • 1+ years of experience with AWS Lambda
      • 1+ years of experience with network routing and switching
      • 4+ years of experience with Python
