- G Job Duties The Virginia Department of Transportation--s (VDOT)
is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve
as a part-time Traffic Engineer in our Central Office Traffic
Operations Division. The selected candidate will support the
special operations program delivery, assist on analyses of current
and upcoming operations programs including but not limited to HOV,
resiliency, lighting, parking management, tunnel \u0026 fire life
safety, collect supporting documentation and prepare recurring
reports, research concepts for potential operations delivery
programs. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited
to:-- - Create recurring reports from prepared templates using
traffic data and update databases with new data.-- - Research
concepts related to Statewide Lighting and Parking Management
Programs and relay those concepts through reports or
presentations.-- - Create Annual HOV reports and ad-hoc HOV
reports.-- - Create the Fire and Life Safety Tunnel Program Annual
Report from a standard template.This position is an Hourly/Wage
position. Hourly(wage) positions may not work more than an average
of 29 hours per week and cannot exceed 1500 hours during the wage
employment year (May1-April 30. This position does not include
health insurance, retirement or leave benefits. Minimum
Qualifications -- - Experience working in a business environment.--
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and visualization
using large datasets.-- - Experience working with Microsoft Office
Suite applications.-- - Ability to grasp new concepts relating to
transportation and operations.-- - Ability to communicate concepts
on a high level.-- - Ability to research transportation concepts to
support various statewide programs.-- - Strong communication and
listening skills. Additional Considerations -- - Knowledge in Data
Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Systems or Other
Relevant fields.-- - Knowledge of Transportation concepts and
practices.-- - Ability to prepare technical reports and communicate
the report to a wide audience of varying levels of understanding.--
- Knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel programming and
functions.-- - Creating visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or
other software.-- - Programming language with statistical
capabilities.-- - Experience preparing reports for a broad

Positions physically working within Central Office locations may be
designated upon request and coordination among the respective
District Engineer or Administrator and Chief. Assignments are
updated annually. Not all designated employees are provided an
