Primary Function/General Purpose of Position:To participate and assist with development of Respiratory Therapy (RT) based policies/procedures and education of RT staff with the Critical Care Transport Program. Is responsible for the development and ongoing revision of the orientation program for all new RT staff, also oversees the orientation of all new RT staff. The Critical Care Transport RT Coordinator provides direction and motivation to the Critical Care Transport Team during transport and continually enhances the education curriculum in a constantly changing health care environment. Functions on the Critical Care Transport Team to promote and restore patients' health by collaborating with other team members, physicians and specialty team members; providing physical and psychosocial support to patients, friends and families. Assists the Director with other duties as requested.II. Employment Qualifications:1. Requires a knowledge of anatomy, physiology, micro-biology, pulmonary physics, pulmonary pathophysiology, advanced respiratory care, mathematics, blood gas chemistry, and pharmacology at a level generally acquired through completion of an AMA approved two year program in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent years of training and experience.2. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 3-5 years experience as a respiratory therapist.3. Must be licensed by the Board of Medicine- Department of Health Regulatory Board, Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapy Practitioner4. Requires a comprehensive knowledge of all department policies and procedures, systems, and equipment as well as technical proficiency at a level generally acquired during 2-3 years of progressively more responsible experience in respiratory care.5. Must maintain current CPR, PALS, ACLS and NRP certification6. Must have 3-5 years of NICU and PICU experience7.
