DescriptionThe Medical Assistant 2 is the first point of contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative duties in addition to patient care. The Medical Assistant 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative/operational/customer support assignments. Performs computations. Typically works on semi-routine assignments.Responsibilities***THIS IS A FLOAT POSITION***
The Medical Assistant 2 performs clinical duties such as discussing symptoms and gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. Collaborates closely with Physicians and Nurses. Delivers direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions are typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments. Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction. Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.***THIS IS A FLOAT POSITION***
Job Functions

  • Perform pre-visit planning based on patient visit type
  • Manage the provider's schedule to ensure efficient workflow
  • Obtain and record medical history and vital signs
  • Room patients and assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and treatments
  • Perform specimen collection and point of care testing
  • Prepare and administer medications under direction of healthcare providers
  • Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including documentation of HEDIS and Stars quality measures
  • Maintain established quality control standards
    Required Qualifications
    • Medical Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from a Medical Assisting program
    • Current CPR certification
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Bilingual in English and Spanish proficiency
      • An active Certified Medical Assistant/CMA or Registered Medical Assistant/RMA certification from one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, ARMA, MedCa, NAHP, NAHT, NCCT, NHA or AAH
      • 1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience in back-office direct patient care
      • Experience with HEDIS and ICD/CPT coding
        • Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience
        • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
        • Experience in a fast paced/high volume environmentWorking hours: Monday to Friday 8AM-5PM
