The Crisis Stabilization Unit at RBH is looking for a dynamic,
recovery-focused, Nursing Supervisor. The incumbent will perform
difficult skilled human support and administrative work ensuring
that consumer psychiatric and medical needs are met, ensuring a
suitable level of staffing, maintaining professional and public
oriented relationships with all consumers, referral sources,
medical personnel, local hospitals and other departments of RBHA,
and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under
the general direction of the Program Manager III/LNP. Supervision
is exercised over subordinate personnel.
Essential Functions
Supervises staff to ensure completion of work plans; assigns,
directs, and inspects the work of staff; coaches, counsels, and
evaluates staff performance; makes recommendations regarding hiring
and disciplinary actions.
Ensures adequate staffing in the CSU at all times.
Delivers direct nursing services to clients; administers
medications; draws blood and performs urine drug screens;
administers and interprets TB tests; assists psychiatrists and
nurse practitioners in tracking lab results.
Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements and evaluates medical needs
of clients; takes vital signs; collaborates with other treatment
providers; prepares medical history.
Assists with the coordination of admission and discharges of
clients to the program; collaborates with pharmacy; transcribes
orders.
Assists clinical staff with case management; attends treatment team
meetings and staff meetings.
Maintains unit schedule with the assistance of the administrative
coordinator for all hourly staff; assists with accuracy of
payroll.
Facilitates psycho-educational groups with clients.
Orders and manages unit medical supplies; stocks medications.
Provides teaching and education to those receiving services.
Maintains medical productivity statistics; maintains thorough
documentation of daily activities including nursing services and
treatment services.
Confers with health care agencies, dentists and other agencies
involved in prescribing medications for clients.
Obtains medical records; enters medical data into computer.
Provides protective equipment and necessary training to staff.
Reviews and monitors medical records for accuracy and completeness;
manages medical record deficiencies.
Provides on call program support after hours, weekends and holidays
as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and
techniques of professional nursing; thorough knowledge of the
dangers inherent in and the precautions to be taken in the use of
narcotics and other medications; thorough knowledge of the
treatment, diagnostic, immunization and related medical services
for medically ill patients; thorough knowledge of the rules,
regulations, procedures and policies pertaining to nursing services
of the facility; ability to accurately maintain patient medical
records and prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with patients, physicians,
associates and others contacted in the course of work.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
Associate's degree with coursework in nursing, or related field and
at least one year experience working with adults with serious
mental illness in a psychiatric setting, or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
Qualifying staff will be eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus as
defined by the terms and conditions of the approved sign-on bonus
policy.
Special Requirements
Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Commonwealth of
Virginia.
CPR and CPI certification.

Starting Salary Range
Starting @ 50.50/ hr
