Summary and QualificationsWe are seeking a highly-skilled and
compassionate RN to deliver exceptional patient care in the
pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). In this position you will
play a pivotal role in providing direct nursing care to our most
critically ill children from birth through their late teens and
into early adulthood. If you are looking for a supportive and

role:
- As a registered nurse in the PICU you will deliver
patient-centered intensive care nursing to children needing a
higher level of monitoring and care beyond what is provided by our
skilled nurses in the pediatric unit.
- Working closely with pediatric intensivists, pediatricians,
therapists (occupational, speech and respiratory), registered
dieticians, pharmacists and case managers/social workers, you will
create and implement a care plan to meet each patient's specific
needs.
- For patients with diabetes, asthma, spinal corrections,
orthopedic procedures, concussions and fractures, general pediatric
surgery needs, croup, respiratory distress, pneumonia, and other
conditions, you will deliver standard medications and perform
tests, regularly monitor and record vital signs, and assess
improvement.
- Using computerized documentation systems you will monitor,
record and communicate patient conditions throughout their stay
from admission to discharge.
- When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other
customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness, and
much more.What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN
preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current
Multistate Compact License.
- 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital
setting.
- 1 year of nursing experience in a pediatric unit
preferred.
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic
Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification. -is
comprised of Chippenham Hospital and Johnston-Willis Hospital. We
