Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist Bon Secours Advanced Heart Failure Center – Richmond, VA Full-Time | Inpatient & Outpatient | Monday–Friday The Bon Secours Advanced Heart Failure Center is seeking a full-time Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our high-performing team at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. This is a unique opportunity in a highly specialized sub-field, with the ability to follow patients across the continuum of care—in both inpatient and outpatient settings—and actively collaborate with regional transplant centers. The Advanced Heart Failure Program is a vital component of the Bon Secours Heart & Vascular Service Line, which includes nearly 20 cardiologists across Non-Invasive, Interventional, Electrophysiology, and Structural specialties, as well as 4 Cardiovascular Surgeons. The program operates at St. Mary’s Hospital and Memorial Regional Medical Center, and is Joint Commission Certified in both LVAD and Heart Failure care. Why This Role is Unique - - Rare Subspecialty Focus: Play a leading role in advanced heart failure management within a growing program - Integrated Patient Care: Maintain continuity by managing patients in both hospital and clinic settings - Transplant Collaboration: Work closely with regional transplant centers on advanced cases and referrals - LVAD Surgeon Access: Share office suite with Cardiac Surgery—daily interaction with the LVAD implanting surgeon enhances team communication and patient outcomes - Family-Oriented Practice: Supportive, collegial culture that offers flexibility for family obligations and emphasizes work-life balance Position Overview - - Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM - Call Rotation: 1:5 weeknights and weekends - Weeknights: After-hours calls from hospital and outpatient - Weekends: Independent hospital rounding and after-hours calls - Average Volume: 20–25 patients/day - Telehealth: Virtual visits via MyChart and telephone, as appropriate - Procedures: Right heart catheterization, echocardiography - Clinic Locations: St. Mary’s Hospital (primary) and Memorial Regional Medical Center (weekly) Practice Model - - Weekly rotation between inpatient service and outpatient clinic - Inpatient service supported by a dedicated Heart Failure NP - Right heart catheterizations performed during outpatient rotation - Clinic design allows adequate time for complex visits and patient education Team & Program - - 1 Cardiologist, 4 Advanced Practice Providers - RNs, CMAs, RN LVAD Coordinators, Social Worker - Embedded in Bon Secours’ comprehensive Heart & Vascular Institute - Access to referrals from Bon Secours cardiologists and private cardiology practices - Program growth driven by local demand and recent closure of a competing practic Qualifications - - MD or DO - BC/BE in Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology - Eligible for unrestricted Virginia medical license - Passion for team-based, patient-centered care and long-term program development Benefits & Compensation Full Comprehensive Benefit Package to include: - - Medical Plans, Vision, Dental, Prescription Drugs - Life Insurance Options - Disability Insurance, Short and Long Term - 403b Plan w/company match, 457b Plan, Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan (funded 100% by company) - Wellness Plan - Flex Spending and Health Savings Account - Eligible Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program - Allowed Time Off plus Holidays - Competitive Compensation - Relocation Expense - CME Annual $10,000
