Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CVICU - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN with at least one year of dedicated cardiovascular ICU experience and the ability to recover post-op CABG, licensed in VA or with a compact RN license. Responsibilities - Position is in an 8-bed Cardiovascular ICU in a hospital setting - Patient population includes adults recovering from cardiac bypass and cardiac surgery such as CABG, TAVR, VAD, pacemakers, and AICDs - Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:1-2 depending on census and acuity - Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, hoyer lifts, ventilators, Sara Stedy, PCA, Glucostabilizer, bedside cardiac monitors, Swan/PA catheters, and cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO with perfusionist support) - Uses bedside cardiac monitoring; experience with Swan/PA catheters required - 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required - No local candidates accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius - Responsibilities include managing critically ill cardiac surgery patients, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, and use of advanced cardiac devices - Must collaborate with perfusionists for ECMO management and will coordinate with interdisciplinary care teams - Rapid assessment and response to changing patient conditions is required - No unit techs are typically present unless census reaches highest levels - First day EKG exam is pass/fail with two attempts allowed and study guides available - Every other holiday coverage is expected - Candidates must be able to work with minimal support staff in a high-acuity environment Requirements - Active RN license for VA or a compact state is required - BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required - Minimum one year of dedicated CVICU RN experience including immediate post-op CABG recovery - Proficiency with Swan/PA catheters required - Experience with ECMO, IABP, and Impella devices is preferred - Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide is provided) - Must provide required documentation for consideration, including certifications and supervisory reference Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626705.
