Operations Team Leader - EI&C

Job Description:

The EI&C Engineer Team Leader is responsible for ensuring deliverable of project documents related to instrumentation, control and electrical for the Department. He/she will be providing leadership, career development and training to a team of Resource Manager and/or direct reports. As required, he/she will support Resource Managers in execution of their portfolio. He/she ensure continuously improve department performance in areas such as quality, on time delivery, budget, and internal/external customer satisfaction.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Provide mentoring to Resource Managers and manage quality of deliverables and maintaining budgets for the Department


  • Ensure proper workload and ETC forecasting and management of Department


  • Establish department Goals, Perform Reviews, Establish Training Programs for technologies, products and/or roles.





    • Management of project assignments (NAM/InSource/contractors), working with other Engineering Managers and Leaders.


    • Work closely with other Engineering Managers to share resources based on overall workload in order to meet project deadlines and department KPI's.


    • Identification and proactive management of mid and long term risks and opportunities that include technical, commercial, and/o financial.


    • As required, Participation in Project Launch Meetings, Preliminary Design Reviews, and Detail Design Reviews


    • Support Commercial engineering in the development of costing tools and/or custom proposals for the different Markets.





      • Ensure project lessons learned and internal/external feedback mechanisms are in maintained and followed.


      • Develop Department procedures and documentation in compliance with Quality Management System (ISO) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)


      • Promote safe work culture during basic and detail design. Incorporate feedback from HAZOP's and Field into future designs.


      • Ensure alignment with key stake holders in other Engineering Disciplines including Commissioning, Services and Aftermarket.


      • Lead multidisciplinary initiatives aimed at improving Department team and greater business performance.





        • Occasional travel (-10%) for client meetings and/or customer site visits





          Qualifications/Requirements:



          • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Equivalent from an accredited University or College


          • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation or Project Management roles.





            • Previous Leadership/Manager role.


            • Strong knowledge of Food and Beverage Municipal, Biosolids, CPI, Thermal, Incinerators or Microelectronic Markets. Experience in basic and detail engineering design for multiple technologies such as Reverse Osmosis, Activated Carbon Filters, UV, Clarifiers, Separation, Evaporators or Crystallizers.


            • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including liaising, reporting, documentation, and presentations)


            • Excellent problem-solving abilities


            • Proven ability to follow set of procedures and standards, and extrapolate new concepts from established standards





              • Knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability to learn equipment and processes related to SUEZ WTS products and systems


              • Valid passport and driver's license.





                Desired Characteristics:



                • Experience with Process Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, Control Panels, Instrumentation, Pneumatic Systems, Motor Control Centers, Grounding System, HMI and SCADA design and programming





                  • Strong focus on customer relationships (external/internal). Understands balance between customer and SUEZ teams


                  • Commissioning experience on at least three Water Technologies such as Reverse Osmosis, Activated Carbon Filters, UV, Clarifiers, Separation, Evaporators or Crystallizers.


                  • Ability to operate under pressure on tight timelines while producing detailed and accurate documents


                  • Ability to quickly shift focus from one technical issue to another while maintaining commitment to accuracy and precision


                  • Ability to schedule, prioritize and manage numerous projects simultaneously





                    • Professional Engineer designation
