Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by
preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is

families and communities within the Commonwealth. DJJ is currently
seeking a Custodial/Janitorial Attendant. This role will provide a
clean, safe, and attractive indoor business environment by means of
performing general janitorial and custodial duties daily to the
interior and immediate exterior of the Virginia Public Safety
Training Center (VPSTC) Buildings. Job responsibilities include,
but are not limited to: Serve as daily custodial attendant to clean
up all spills, toilet overflow conditions and litter including
set-up/breakdown, arranging of furniture, tables, chairs and
equipment daily to VPSTC meeting/convention spaces, classrooms and
all areas preparing the facilities events per schedule and as
directed. Assist the VPSTC Maintenance Department in unclogging of
toilets and monitoring and preventing overflow or running toilets.
Maintain complete inventory of all janitorial supplies and
equipment necessary to perform Janitorial and Custodial in all
VPSTC Buildings used for training and business operations including
partners leased spaces of VPSTC. Perform duties safely and in a
manner that supports the mission and goals of DJJ and VPSTC.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform manual
labor. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. and work at
elevated heights up to 15 feet. Ability to work days, evenings,
nights and/or weekends. This is an hourly/wage position and is
limited to 1500 hours to average 29 hours per week in a 12-month
period. This position does not include the state benefit package.
Minimum Qualifications Previous experience in custodial or
janitorial work. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and
equipment. Ability to work independently and manage time
effectively. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
work. Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed. Valid
driver’s license is required. Additional Considerations
Considerable experience in business environment janitorial and
