This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the R&D function. This position will report to the Pilot Plant Supervisor.You will support process development and scale-up of an expanding pipeline of new products and processes. This includes cellulose ethers, poly acrylates, and a broad range of other specialty chemicals.The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop the process technology required to commercialize new products flowing from R&D
• Develop and evaluate alternative process options to facilitate decisions on product and process feasibility
• Influence product development teams to ensure process considerations are part of early phase research
• Direct technicians in lab and pilot plant to define process capability and evaluate process options
• Oversee pilot and commercial trials to demonstrate and commercialize new products and processes
• Document and transfer new process technology to manufacturing
• Conduct vendor trials to evaluate and select manufacturing equipment for new processes
• Supervise pilot plant technicians and drive a safety conscious, high performance work environment

• Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with othersIn order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, process technology, R&D or engineering
  • Strong chemical engineering competency in process development and scale-up
  • Results oriented with demonstrated leadership and teamwork experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent technical and communication skills
  • Ability to travel in US and overseas to conduct trials and provide plant support as required
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
  • The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and differentThe following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
    • Masters Degree in engineering
    • Six Sigma certification
