Sentara is hiring a Patient & Digital Experience Domain Architect
This position is fully remote. Overview We are seeking an
experienced Patient & Digital Experience Domain Architect to join
our Clinical Systems Domain Architecture team. This highly visible
role is responsible for shaping and advancing the digital front
door and end-to-end patient experience across Sentara. The
Architect will partner closely with executive, clinical,
operational, and technical leaders to design and drive a cohesive,
patient-centered technology strategy that improves access,
engagement, and experience. This role focuses on thoughtful
architectural design across scheduling, registration, referrals,
authorizations, communications, and digital engagement tools -
ensuring solutions are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with
organizational goals. About the Role The Patient & Digital
Experience Domain Architect supports enterprise architecture
strategy by designing and governing domain-level architecture and
driving the long-term technology roadmap for patient-facing and
digital experience platforms. The role provides architectural
leadership and solution guidance, helping ensure digital
experiences reduce friction, improve access, and create a
consistent experience for patients across all channels. Domains &

APIs, interoperability patterns - Experience continuity across
systems and touchpoints Key Responsibilities - Lead domain-level
architecture strategy for Patient and Digital Experience
technologies - Design and drive the digital front door roadmap,
focused on access, engagement, and patient experience - Architect
seamless workflows across scheduling, registration, referrals, and
authorizations - Provide architectural guidance for MyChart,
chatbots, AI-assisted tools, and digital engagement platforms -
Partner with executive, clinical, operational, and technical
leaders to align digital experience strategy with enterprise goals
- Serve as a contributor in Architecture Review Board (ARB)
discussions related to patient-facing technologies - Establish
standards and patterns that promote usability, accessibility,
consistency, and scalability - Evaluate emerging technologies that
improve patient self-service, communication, and personalization
Required Qualifications - Must hold at least one Epic Certification
or Accreditation in one or more of the following: - Prelude -
Cadence - MyChart - Cheers - Campaigns - Strong experience in
patient registration, scheduling, MyChart, and
referrals/authorizations, with a focus on improving access and
patient experience - Demonstrated ability to engage, communicate,
and influence executive, clinical, operational, and technical
stakeholders - Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant
healthcare IT experience, or 10 years without a degree Preferred
Qualifications - Background with Epic eMPA and prior authorization
workflows - Experience with additional Epic digital tools such as
Welcome and Interconnect - Demonstrated experience designing or
improving digital front door capabilities - Familiarity with
chatbots, conversational interfaces, or AI-assisted digital tools -
Knowledge of FHIR, APIs, and interoperability patterns - Experience
contributing to enterprise architecture governance or participating
in ARB - Exposure to accessibility, usability, or service design
