We have a new opening for a PRN Receptionist. The Receptionist
operates hospital switchboard system. Receives incoming calls and
forward to correct department/staff member; pages physicians and
staff; places outgoing calls as required. Receives guests; greets
and screens, utilizing updated census for patient visitors; issues
guest badges; announces to staff member indicated and directs to
proper/appropriate destination. Monitors annunciator panel and acts
as safety liaison for threats, codes and drills. Reports unusual
incidents. Maintains professional demeanor at all times. Maintains
strict patient confidentiality. Promotes company philosophies,
generates team spirit and creates and maintains an environment that
fosters employee/customer satisfaction and maximizes productivity
and profitability. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Must
have sufficient hearing capability to receive and place calls and
sufficient manual dexterity (eye hand coordination) to operate
switchboard equipment; as well as pleasant telephone and paging
voice. * Previous switchboard or reception experience preferred. *
Must be able to deal with the public in a polite, positive and
professional manner; utilize judgment in receiving guests, as well
as in receiving , transferring calls and/or taking messages; handle
stressful situations and people in a calm manner; demonstrate an
ability to remember names, faces and locations of staff, allied
health professionals and physicians. * Must maintain strict
confidentiality of hospital and patient information. * General
Requirements: * Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth
of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children's Residential
Facilities. (22VAC42-11-380, pg. 43) * Must have patience, tact,
and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm. * Good communication
skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the
English language. * Basic clerical skills, basic experience with
office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc. * Experience
with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
etc.) * Ability to understand and carry out oral and written
instructions. * Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when
circumstances warrant such actions. * Willingness to interact with
patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
