Designs, evaluates, analyzes, and presents data and performance metrics, ensuring compliance with JCAHO standards and Virginia state licensing regulations for behavioral health. Directs programming for all behavioral health units. Utilizes the quality processes and best practices to improve programming. Utilizes guidelines, standards, and research to support programming that produces quality patient care with optimal patient outcomes. Incorporates data and information to continually improve outcomes. Embraces Inova Health Systems' Leadership traits, and demonstrates supporting behaviors. Influences improvements in programming, by maintaining current standards and assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding programming. Serves as a resource and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision making and problem-solving. Enhances retention of staff within the Inova Health System by utilizing effective communication skills, creating an environment that allows staff to develop professionally, and providing consistent and timely follow up with staff. Is available to meet with staff, routinely recognizes staff accomplishments, is visible, makes sound operational decisions, and ensures a qualified workforce for the unit. Establishes and maintains effective and responsive relationships with community service board, human rights advocates, and licensing specialists.

Job Responsibilities
Creates and maintains respectful relationships throughout Inova Health System and external customers.
Encourages cross-boundary involvement in obtaining department goals.
Works with peers and others in the operating unit and throughout the system to achieve goals.
Supports and contributes to operating unit and system committees and initiatives.
Builds effective teams. Supports teams in initiatives and recognizes team members' contributions.
Supports and assists appropriately in Inova's strategic initiatives. (e.g. Inova Health System strategic plan, Operating Unit strategic plan, Service line strategic plan, etc.)
Uses appropriate performance improvement and analytical tools and techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
Uses appropriate computer applications and databases to facilitate data-based decisions. Validates completeness and accuracy of data.
Appropriately identifies and uses benchmarks and best practices.
Develops and produces outcome reports and analyses, customized to meet the needs of various audiences.
Develops and executes communication strategies of pertinent findings and activities to various audiences.
Has extensive knowledge of licensing requirements.
Has in depth knowledge of behavioral health standards for JCAHO.
Assumes responsibility for program compliance with both licensure and accreditation, for all components under areas of responsibility.
Ensures quality patient care by managing programming that supports optimal patient outcomes.
Demonstrates financial competency by effectively preparing, planning, in-depth cutting budgetary standards for human resources and the environment.
Monitors and manages operating and capital budgets.
Ensures institutional compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.
Monitors customer satisfaction and seeks ways to continually improve customer satisfaction.
Participates in and supports quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Demonstrates sound project management skills.
Demonstrates sound operational skills by ensuring programming coverage for the behavioral health units, maintaining budgetary standards, and ensuring effective use and appropriate utilization of all resources.
Fosters leadership unity by providing consistent communication and demonstrating mutual support.

Reviews a self-development plan and professional goals.

Creates a supportive environment that allows staff to take risks to develop further. Monitors the retention dashboard results and works with staff to identify best practices and improvement opportunities.
Engages staff to be involved with the unit and system retention initiatives.
Makes self visible to the staff by providing opportunities to meet with staff, routine rounds on the unit, and providing office hours.
Handles conflict and the resolution of the conflict in a timely and appropriate manner. Provides timely follow up with staff.
Treats staff in a fair, consistent manner while recognizing individual differences in staff.
Monitors staff satisfaction quarterly, and implements initiatives to continually improve staff satisfaction.
Provides routine recognition of staff, both formal and informal. Supports staff at recognition events.
Maintains its clinical knowledge base and ensures staff maintains competencies outlined in the performance appraisal.
Ensures a qualified workforce through effective hiring, orientation, education, and support programs.
Ensures demonstrated, continued competence. Positively impacts change by establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships with all key external stakeholders.
Ensures adherence to Service Excellence standards and provisions of outstanding customer service, to both internal and external customers.
Collects data, evaluates, and reports to the Behavioral Health Leadership Team.
Develops action plans, as indicated based on data.

Education: Master's Degree in Counseling or Social Work, or equivalent clinical field
Experience: 5 years experience, with 2 years at a supervisory level
Licensure: Current Licsenced Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor
