Job DescriptionSalary: Summary PlanRVA is seeking an
enthusiastic and organized individual to support the development
and implementation of our public engagement strategy. PlanRVA has
responsibilities to engage the public on several significant
regional planning efforts focusing on topics including community
development, the environment and transportation. PlanRVA also works
to educate the public regarding actions citizens can take to be
prepared in the event of an emergency. Finally, PlanRVA is
responsible for promoting our region's successes in collaboration
and community problem solving and is working to identify the most
appropriate channels to inform and educate members of the public,
the media and community stakeholders. Essential Functions
- Identify and develop content for sharing good news about the
initiatives in the region as well as activities led by PlanRVA
- Assist in the design and development of information, updates
and outreach collateral to fulfill our communications and public
engagement objectives
- Manage the agency's drive calendar and coordinate with other
staff members to assure content is consistently/frequently updated
and aligned with our other media channels (website, social media,
etc)
- Plan and schedule social media posts on Facebook, LinkedIn and
other platforms to support the agency's drive calendar
- Evaluate the merits of using additional social media platform
and developing the internal capacity to support the associated work
load and provide a recommendation for implementation Competencies
- Communication Proficiency, including: Effective verbal and
written communication skills; strong in listening and note taking.
Awareness of social media and other communications platforms and
tools.
- Project Management, including: Strong organizational skills and
capacity for multi-tasking on independent and team-based work;
motivated self-starter with ability to work independently and under
direction.
- Problem Solving and Analysis, including: Experience with
performing basic web based and other qualitative research and
analytical and data synthesis skills.
- Technical Capacity, including: Competency in basic computer
applications (MS Office, Adobe Suite, ArcGIS).
- Supervisory Responsibility This position is generally not
responsible for supervision of other personnel. Page Break Position
Type/ Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position requiring
some flexibility to attend meetings and other events as necessary.
Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am
to 4:30 pm; flexible schedules are permitted with prior approval.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for specific
project deadlines or meetings as job duties demand. Travel Regular
travel within the region for meetings may be expected. Required
Education and Experience High School Diploma with evidence of
progression towards completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's or
Master's degree with demonstrated interest in the planning, public
administration or related profession. Work Environment This job
operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers,
and filing cabinets. Physical Demands While performing duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The
employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch,
handle or feel and to reach with hands and arms. The position
requires the ability to occasionally lift office products, small
equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds. Must possess the visual
acuity to prepare data and statistics, to perform accounting, to
operate a computer, and to read extensively Additional Eligibility
