Description

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Graduated from, or enrolled in an accredited, graduate level program in Special Education. A minimum of three years of experience in teaching and working with at-risk children and adolescents

Demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to motivate people.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, behavioral management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.

Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and written, using proper grammar and vocabulary.

Prior experience working with children in a therapeutic capacity.

Current certification in Therapeutic Options, and the ability to carry out the procedure correctly (training provided during New Hire Orientation and yearly recertification).

Current certification in Adult and Child First Aid, CPR, and AED (training provided during New Hire Orientation).

Successful completion of Dominion Youth Services annual employee trainings (Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPPA, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, Human Rights, Unlawful Harassment Prevention, Mandated Reporting, Cultural Competency, Defensive Driving, Driver Safety Policy, and Employee Manual) Successful completion of Child Abuse/Recognition Training

Completion of tuberculosis screening within 30 days of employment.
