Ametek, Inc.Working with single-point diamond turning equipment to manufacture high precision components for the Zygo Extreme Precision Optics Group in Richmond, CA. Zygo EPO is a leading edge optics company working in the field of optical component and subsystem design and manufacture to the highest tolerances and requirements in the world. Generate a consistent flow of high quality work through the diamond turning department. Collaborate with supervisor and planning group to meet on-time delivery schedules. Assist in continually improving procedures and methods with a mind toward efficiency. RESPONSIBILITIES Set-up and operation of CNC diamond turning machines Maintain and assemble diamond tools in tool holders and positioning of tools in machine Create, load, edit and store programs Observe operation of machine to produce accurate and high quality parts Perform difficult and complex set-ups and operate machine on assignments, under minimal supervision with direction from engineering or area supervisor Fabrication of precision components out of various materials including aluminum, calcium fluoride, silicon, zinc selenide, among others) Use metrology equipment such as interferometers and profilometers to measure results of process Run software analysis routines on data to prepare machine control programs Load parts and programs onto machines and successfully execute operations as directed Handle and clean optical components without downgrading the surfaces Maintain a clean an orderly work environment by following cleaning schedules and inventory control Perform maintenance and preventatives maintenance on equipment and tooling Integrate, troubleshoot and repair complex processes Perform tasks involving high precision and detail Assist in developing procedures for new products including initiating corrections and improvements Assist in the development of quotations and proposals Define and procure process tooling as required Meet schedules and standard times and quality Assist with training of lower level technicians Functions with very limited direction or supervision according to build schedule REQUIREMENTS 7-9 years of related industry experience with an A.S. degree in a technical discipline or a technical high school degree and 11 plus years of technically related experience is required Experience with spherical optics required, aspheres preferred Experience with optics and optical testing required Experience with SPDT manufacturing equipment such as Moore Nanotech, Precitech, etc. required Experience in manufacturing environment Experience with troubleshooting of complex processes Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation Careful, well organized and detail oriented Strong computer skills including MS Work and Excel Strong math skills Must have experience working within a multi-disciplined manufacturing team Must have excellent organizational skills Must have strong interpersonal skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
