  • Other Support Staff: The practice is supported by a Nurse Manager who operates a 24-hour health services system at the site.

  • Procedures:
    • An Institutional NP operates a Doctor s Office Practice within a correctional facility.
    • Primary duties involve providing professional medical care and medication management to offenders with assistance from nursing staff.
    • prescribing controlled substances and devices following current regulations
    • Submission Requirements:
      • Graduation from an accredited medical college.
        Completion of an approved residency in a primary care specialty.
        Active license to practice medicine in Virginia, and board eligible or certified in a primary care specialty.
        Prefer experience providing medical care in a correctional setting.
        3-5 years of relevant experience.
