Do you have case evaluation, case file management, or document review experience in a high-volume, production-oriented insurance, risk management, or related compliance environment and a passion for providing excellent customer service to a diverse group of professionals and clients? Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission, an independent state agency, currently seeks a self-starter who holds themselves accountable for results and performance to serve as an Insurance Compliance Specialist with the Insurance Department. As an Insurance Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for enforcing the employer's obligation to insure its liability for Workers' Compensation and enforcing carrier and Professional Employer Organization (PEO) compliance under the Workers' Compensation Act. You will also monitor and register PEOs and their clients and provide excellent customer service by responding to customer inquiries related to the Workers' Compensation Act by phone and email. The hours for this position are 8:15 am - 5:00 pm. Minimum Qualifications * High school graduate or GED or the equivalent in training and/or experience * Experience performing case evaluation, case file management, and/or document review in a high volume, production-oriented insurance, risk management, or related compliance environment * Experience providing excellent customer service to, and gathering information from, a diverse group of professionals and clients by phone and email * Self-starter who holds themselves accountable for results and performance * Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work and learn and adapt to new practices, procedures, and operations * Demonstrated ability to analyze data, research a wide range of rules and regulations; and arrive at logical conclusions in order to identify areas of non-compliance * Ability to work independently and with others in a professional manner to effectively achieve team goals in a fast-paced work environment * Ability to travel overnight on occasion * Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills * Skill in applying business processes to workflows and collecting, assembling, and processing information * Working knowledge of general investigative principles and practices meeting legal and accepted professional standards * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; data entry and retrieval from database programs; and Internet research principles Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field * Experience working with workers' compensation insurance programs * Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation Commission Code, procedures, forms, and related documents Special Requirements Must pass criminal background check. Management approval to telework is contingent upon successful completion of 6 months of employment and the business needs of the work unit. VWC employees are permitted to telework up to a maximum of two days per week at their department's discretion.
