DJJ is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused plumber
looking to expand their knowledge and career.
Incumbent is responsible for providing plumbing installations and
repairs for water and sewer operation. Duties include: repairing
and installing domestic water piping, valves, fixtures, drains,
water hydrants, water mains, water closets, lavatories, sinks,
heaters and filter systems and work from blue prints, drawing and
sketches as appropriate. Incumbent will perform preventative
maintenance on plumbing systems, sewer systems and inspect
equipment. Incumbent will operate tools associated with plumbing to
assist in performing repairs to the facilities physical plants.
Incumbent will also assist in general HVAC task as assigned.
Position involves working on-call coverage during nights/holidays
and weekends for emergency repairs or as assigned.
The Bon Air Juvenile Correctional facility located in Chesterfield,
VA operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position is
designated as essential and is on-call for emergencies during off
hours and during inclement weather.

The Department of Juvenile Justice is an Executive Level Branch
agency. In accordance with Governor Ralph Northams mandate, by
Article V, Sections 1 and 7 of the Constitution of Virginia, and by
2.2-103 of the Code of Virginia all Executive Branch Employees and
state contractors who enter the workplace or who have public-facing
work duties must disclose their vaccine status to the designated
agency personnel. Executive Branch Employees who are not fully
vaccinated or who refuse to disclose their current vaccine status
must undergo weekly COVID-19 testing and disclose weekly the
results of those tests to the designated agency personnel.
Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and comply with blueprints,
schematics, and plans. Considerable experience performing daily
preventative maintenance inspections and inspecting/maintaining
physical plant systems. Some knowledge of HVAC systems and general
building maintenance operation and repair. The successful applicant
must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid drivers
license by the time of employment.
Appropriate education or vocational training in plumbing field.
Certificate/License in plumbing field.
