Responsibilities and Duties: The Controls Building Automation
Programmer III is a highly skilled professional responsible for
designing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems
for commercial and industrial building automation systems, HVAC
systems specifically. This position will be based in the Richmond
VA market.
Duties include:
Leads maintenance and commissioning of controls systems.
Leads installs, replaces, and re-commissions control devices,
equipment, and software.
Advanced knowledge of diagnosing and troubleshooting software and
hardware issues with controls systems.
Leads required systems testing sequence of operation testing.
Leads communication via emails, service tickets, reports,
commission sheets, etc. This would include interfacing with Project
Managers, engineering, programmers, installers, and customers.
Provides detailed point-to-point check-outs and evaluations of.
Building automation, lighting, and access control systems to ensure
proper installation and operation.
Ensures maintenance of accurate As-Built drawings.
Leads calibration of systems using basic electronic test equipment,
such as multi-meters and a laptop computer.
Leads troubleshooting and commissioning of software
programming.
Leads training of building automation systems to customers.
Provides advanced knowledge of database backups on a regular
basis.
Responsible for completing paperwork on-time, including timesheets,
work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical
engineering, or related field.
At least 5 years of experience in programming HVAC control
systems.
Strong knowledge of HVAC control systems and protocols such as
BACnet, LON, MaxCool, and Modbus.
Advanced working knowledge in HVAC mechanical and/or electrical
systems
Advanced troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical
systems
General Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication and customer service
skills.
Strong observation and decision-making skills.
General knowledge of MS Office (Excel) required.
Must be able to work independently, establish priorities, and meet
deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be available to travel as needed

Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing,
bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting to 20
pounds. Hand manipulation is required for grasping, pushing and
pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized.
Need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, as well as below the
shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there
will be travel, will work near construction job site equipment when
in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and
machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to
dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or
humidity, and work at heights.
