Position Overview: This is a temporary position that requires the ability to work up to 35 hours a week. The position is expected to last up to 12 months. Richmond Raceway (RR) seeks motivated and enthusiastic candidates for our Sales & Marketing Internship Program. RR seeks teachable, dedicated individuals who possess superior listening and communication skills and are eager to learn to sell. The founder of NASCAR, Bill France Sr., operated under the principle that "Everybody Sells Tickets" and we continue that mindset today. Our environment is focused, competitive, and is perfect for recent college graduates looking for their first step in the sport business industry. Successful candidates will receive a strong sales foundation and will work with our Executive Staff daily to develop, and refine, the tactical skills needed to be prepared for a full-time staff position. RR offers a bi-weekly salary, commissions, and a positive and professional environment. Responsibilities: Successful candidates will represent Richmond Raceway by selling and servicing ticket packages as well as participating in our outreach programs/events. Other duties include:* Generating new ticket sales through phone prospecting, outside appointments and track tours, upselling current buyers into season ticket packages, etc.* Prospecting new ticket package sales opportunities through cold calls, referrals and networking events* Setting meetings with key decision makers of community and corporate groups* Developing professional relationships with current clients for renewals and referral leads.* Providing a high level of service to all accounts including retention of assigned accounts* Staffing ticket sales booths at outside functions including luncheons, business shows, conventions, etc.* Engaging all patrons of RR at annual race weekends, and other ISC track events* Lead RIR Street Team, managing our outreach with??? o Greater Richmond Regional events o RR / NASCAR Home Track Engagement Program o Commonwealth University & College Program* Other duties as assigned Qualifications:* The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management or related field with experience working with the leisure entertainment industry* Must have a strong sense of professionalism* Must have solid written & verbal communication, outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills* Must have an earnest commitment to the sports industry* Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to meet tight deadlines* Must have a passionate determination for furthering your career* Must have an openness to learn and a tremendous work ethic* Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously* Prior sales experience is preferred but not required* Previous job/internship experience within the sports marketing industry is essential* Ability to work evenings and weekends as the needs of the business require We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
